CRA History and Achievements

The Cambridge Ringette Association Founded in 1973

In the 2004/2005 season Cambridge Ringette boasted 21 teams and over 200 players competing in House League divisions through to Provincial AA. 
Through the years Cambridge Ringette has enjoyed many successes and accomplishments in achieving Association objectives both at the team and individual player levels. 
The following provides a synopsis of these accomplishments: 

• 1973 Cambridge Ringette Association founded.(Registration fee $10)
• 1985 Cambridge Tween AA win Provincial title.
• 1987 Cambridge Belle AA win Provincial & National titles.
• 1988 Cambridge Petite A win Bronze at Provincials
• 1991 Cambridge Petite AA win Bronze at Provincials
• 1992 Cambridge Petite AA win Provincial title.  Cambridge Junior A win Silver at Provincials.
• 1993 Cambridge Petite AA win Bronze at Provincials. Cambridge Tween AA win Silver at Provincials.
• 1994 Cambridge Petite AA win Provincial title. Cambridge Tween AA win Bronze at Provincials.
• 1995 Cambridge Tween AA win Bronze at Provincials.
• 1996 Cambridge Ringette hosts Provincial A & AA Championships. Cambridge Junior AA win Provincial title. Cambridge Intermediate AA win Silver at Provincials.
• 1997 Cambridge  Belle AA and Junior AA win Silver at Provincials.
• 1998 Cambridge Belle AA win Provincial & National titles.
• 1999 Cambridge Petite A win Silver at Provincials. Belle AA win Silver at Provincials. 
• 2000 Cambridge Ringette hosts Southern Region Championships. Cambridge Deb AA win Provincial & National titles. Cambridge Belle AA win Bronze at Provincials. Lisa Newton (Cambridge Deb AA) & Jackie Gaudet (Cambridge Belle AA) named to Team Canada to compete in World Championships in Helsinki, Finland.
• 2001 Cambridge Belle AA win Silver at Provincials. Cambridge Open AA win Bronze at Provincials. 
• 2002 Cambridge Ringette hosts Provincial AA Championships. Cambridge Petite AA win Provincial title. Cambridge Open AA win Silver at Provincials. Cambridge Tween AA win Silver at Provincials. Jackie Gaudet & Jennifer Gaudet (Cambridge Open AA) named to Team Canada 2002 to compete in World Championships in Edmonton, Alberta.
• 2003 Cambridge Petite AA win Provincial title. Cambridge Open AA win Silver at Provincials.
• 2004 Cambridge Open AA win Provincial title. Jennifer Gaudet, Nicole Madsen & Sharolyn Wouters (Cambridge Open AA) named to Team Canada 2004 to compete in World Championships in Stockholm, Sweden.
• 2005 Cambridge Open AA win Silver at Provincials.
• 2006 Cambridge Open AA win Provincial title. Cambridge Junior AA win Silver at Provincials.
• 2007 -2008 Southern AAA Team named  the following Cambridge players to their team - Samantha Hodgson, Johanna Padalino, Danielle Glaskin-Clay, Brooklyn Reid and Emma Tonin
• 2007 Cambridge Open AA win Provincial title. Jennifer Wakefield (Center), Jacqueline Gaudet (Defense) & Sharolyn Wouters(Forward) named to Team Canada 2007 to compete in World Championships.
• 2007 Team Ontario Coach Glen Gaudet for CWG in Whitehorse, Meghan Pittaway Goalie for Team Ontario. Team Ontario wins Gold. 
• 2007 New CRA Jersey Design 
• 2008 Tween AA win Silver at Provincials.
• 2008 Ontario Winter Games - AAA Southern Team won Silver.
• 2008: St. Albert, Alberta - CRC - Cambridge NRL Turbos  won Gold.
• 2008 Six area ringette players are among the 91 hopefuls from the eastern provinces vying for a spot on the inaugural Canadian U19 Team East ringette squad. They are  Samantha Hodgson, Laura Jones, Brooklyn Reid, Emma Tonin and Alysha Smith, all of Cambridge, as well as Danielle Glaskin-Clay of Ayr.
• 2008 Samantha Hodgson (Cambridge Belle AA) named to U19 Team Canada East representing Canada in the 2009 World Junior Ringette Championships which will be held August 4-8, 2009 in Prague, Czech Republic. Petite (McCarthy)  win Silver at Provincials. Officially change logo from CR to Turbos
• 2009 CRC - Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island - Cambridge NRL Turbos won Gold at Nationals.
• 2009-2010 Southern AAA team - Cambridge players named to the team are: Shannon Barber, Rachel Chabot, Danielle Glaskin-Clay, Laura Jones, Mary Mitchell, Brooklyn Reid, Emma Tonin, Kayla Albert, Breanne Hutchings, Rachel Reid, Stacey Richards.
• 2010 Southern AAA team -  members invited to 2011 Team Ontario Selection Camp: Breanne Hutchings, Shannon Barber. 
• 2010 Cambridge Junior AA win Gold at Cambridge Tourn., Junior B win Silver. Petite Provincial win Gold at Provincial Champs, Junior AA win Silver at Provincial Champs,Belle AA win Bronze at Provincial Champs
• 2010 Saskatoon, Saskatchewan - CRC - Cambridge NRL Turbos won Silver
• 2011 Cambridge Ringette Association Hosting Nationals, NRL Turbos won Silver, NRL 1st All Star - Jacqueline Gaudet - forward, 2nd All Star - Jen Wakefield - Forward,  U19 2nd  All Star - Breanne Hutchings - Forward, U16 2nd All Star - Jessica Purbrick - Defense, U19 Fastest Skater - Alysha Smith 16.29sec
• 2011 Regionals U12 Loop 3 Won Gold, U16 Loop 1 won Silver, Open B Minor Won Gold
• 2011 U12 Event - U12 McCarthy Division -  Cambridge 1 - Sportsmanship & U12 Gough Division - Cambridge 2 - Bronze.
• 2011-2012 Southern AAA team - Cambridge players named to the team are: Jamie Lee Harvie, Jessica Purbrick, Stacey Richards, Nicole Parker, Celie Diebold, Carley Heimbecker, Breanne Hutchings, Kayla Kowalsky, Kayla Albert, Megan Hinde, Emma Padalino. And Congrats to Kim Purbrick being named to the bench staff.
• 2011-2012 Southern AAA team - Wins Silver at Eastern Challenge Cup.
• 2011 For the 2012 U19 National Team Canada East Selection Camp -  invites 5 Cambridge players - Kayla Albert, Breanne Hutchings, Kayla Kowalskey, Jessica Purbrick, Stacey Richards
• 2012 AA Provincials - U19 Jacks Division - U19 AA Cambridge - wins Sportsmanship
• 2012 Ontario Winter Games - 2011 - 2012 Southern AAA team - won bronze in Collingwood.
• 2012 Southern Region Championships - U19W Division - U19B Cambridge  - wins Silver, U16B Division - U16B Cambridge - wins Gold, U10B Division - U10B Roop. Cambridge - wins Silver
• 2012 CRC - U19 AA -  made it to the second round in the Championship Round - Haily Moore #27 named Goalie Second all-star team.
• 2012 Ontario U12 Event - U12 Bennett Division - U12 Prov#1 Brown - wins Silver
• 2012 U19 National Team Canada East-Stacey Richards from our U19AA CRA team makes Team Canada East.  U19 World Ringette Championships: Team Canada East won Gold & Team Canada West won Bronze. 
• 2012 U19 National Team Russia - congrats to Breanne Hutchings, Kayla Albert, Kayla Kowalsky from our U19AA CRA team for makingTeam Russia which placed 4th at the U19 World Ringette Championships.
• 2013 Senior National Team Canada - named 5 NRL Turbos to the team - Emily Baker, Melissa Findlay, Jackie Gaudet, Jen Gaudet, and Megan Pittaway.
• 2013 AA Provincials - Waterloo - U16AA Junior Jacks Division - Cambridge U16AA won Sportsmanship Award
• 2013 Fredericton, NB - CRC - Cambridge NRL Turbos won Bronze
• 2013 SRRA Regional Championships - U10B White Division U10 Taborek won silver, U19B Red Division U19B Field won Silver
• 2013 Ontario Adult Challenge Cup (OAIC) - B Divisoin - U18+ B Cambridge won 1st place.
• 2013-14 Southern AAA: Cambridge players named to team: Nicki Cruikshank, Celie Diebold, Stephanie Haefling, Ashley Heimbecker, Carley Heimbecker, Jessica Purbrick, Darcy Woods. Kim Purbrick (manager)
• 2013-2014 Southern AAA team wins Gold at the Sudbury AAA Challenge Cup
• 2013 ORA Awards - Community Builder - Yvette Heimbecker - Cambridge, Regional Volunteer of the Year Award - Yvette Heimbecker of Southern Region.
• 2014 U12 Regional team wins Gold in Paris Tournament, U9 wins Gold in Kitchener Tournament, U12 Regional & U16B wins Silver in Kitchener Tournament, U14AA and 14A wins Silver in Guelph Tournament
• 2014 Cambridge Ringette Hosts Regionals March 28th - 30th.
• 2014 AA Provincial in Gloucester U16AA awarded sportsmanship
• 2014 Regina, SK - CRC - Cambridge NRL Turbos won Silver
• 2014 Southern AAA team members invited to 2015 Team Ontario Selection Camp: Ashley Heimbecker, Carley Heimbecker, Jessica Purbrick. 
• 2014 Southern Regionals Championships U19B won gold and U14B and U10 won Silver.
• 2014 Ontario Adult Challenge Cup (OAIC) - B Divisoin - U18+ B Cambridge won 1st place.
• 2014 The 2015 Team Ontario for the Canada Winter Games in Prince George, BC - named Carley Heimbecker to the team.
• 2014 ORA Awards - Provincial Builder - Cathy Nie,  Coach of the Year - Scott Haefling.
• 2015 Canada Winter Games - Team Ontario wins Silver. Members from Cambridge Ringette: Carley Heimbecker #15 Defence (U19AA & AP for NRL Turbos), Nia King #9 Defence (NRL Turbos), Sydney Nosal #91 Forward (AP for NRL Turbos) and Chantal Gauthier #16 Defence (AP for NRL Turbos)
• 2015 AA Provincials - London - U16 McCarthy Division - U16AA Cambridge award Sportsmanship
• 2015 A Provincials - Newmarket - U18+ A McCarthy Division - Cambridge - Winning Silver
• 2015 CRC - Wood Buffalo, AB - Cambridge NRL Turbos won Gold
• 2015 Southern Region Champs - U16 White Division - Cambridge (T) won Silver, U16 Red Division - Cambridge (P) won Silver, U14 White Division - Cambridge won Gold, U10 Blue Division -Cambridge won Silver.
• 2015 U12 Provincial Event - Cambridge wins Sportsmanship
• 2015 Glen Gaudet one of  the seven inductees on Saturday as the Cambridge Sports Hall of Fame adds its new members.
• 2015 Congratulations to Ashley Heimbecker, Darcy Woods, McKayla Jarvie and Sierra Mitobe for being named to the 2015-2016 Southern AAA Team.  Congrats to Abbi Blackburn for being named the development players for the AAA Southern Team.  Also Congrats to Yvette Heimbecker for being named Managers of the AAA Southern Team. Congratulation to Ali Rubba and Madison Sunseth for being named to 2015-2016 Central AAA team.  Congratulations to Julia Patton and Olivia Rebelo for being named to the 2015-2016 United AAA team.
• 2015 Congrats to Team Ontario members Carley Heimbecker (U19AA & AP NRL Turbos) Sydney Nosal (AP NRL Turbos) & Chantal Gauthier (AP NRL Turbos) for being invited to Junior Team Canada Selection Camp
• 2015 Congrats to NRL Cambridge Jackie Gaudet and Megan Pittaway, Taylor Campbell, Melissa Findlay, Sydney Granger, Elyssa Jasper and Paige Nosal for being invited to the Senior Team Canada Selection Camp
• 2015 Congrats to Sydney Nosal and Chantal Gauthier both APs for NRL Turbos selected for Junior Team Canada. 
• 2015 Congrats to Darcy Woods - DAP for Gloucester NRL (6th pick to Gatineau Fushion) and Carley Heimbecker on Waterloo NRL team (4th pick in Draft to Waterloo).
• 2015 Congrats to Central AAA team - Ali Rubba and Madison Sunseth for their silver medal in the Eastern AAA Challenge Cup over Thanksgiving Weekend.
• 2015 Congrats to Southern AAA team for placing 3rd at Eastern AAA Challenge Cup.
• 2015 Congrats to Eastern AAA team - Hannah Starzynski for their silver medal in the Ontario Ringette AAA Championship in Kingston and Southern AAA for placing 3rd.
• 2016 Congrats to NRL Turbos First place - on their way to Nationals,  U19AA win on place at Nationals.
• 2016 Congrats to McKayla Jarvie - DAP for Waterloo NRL,  Hannan Starzynski  Draft pick for Cambridge Turbos and Ashley Heimbecker 2nd Draft pick for for Richmond Hill NRL. 
• 2017 Congrats to U16AA winning Bronze at AA Provincials
• 2017 Congrats to NRL Turbos win Gold - 3rd time in a row at Nationals, Congrats to U16AA winning Silver at Nationals, Congrats to U16 Division - Second all-star team - Defence: Kat Shaughnessy, First all-star team - Offence Emma Croswell, NRL Division Second all-star team: Offence Sheri Adams, First all-star team - Offence Paige Nosal
• 2017 Congrats to U14B and 18+B Turbos for winning Gold at SRRL Regionals.
• 2017 Congrats to Jackie Gaudet and Kelly Nicholson - Coach of the Year
• 2017 Congrats to Emma Croswell, Ayton Johnston, Sierra Mitobe, Katharine Shaughnessy,  Madison Sunseth for making the 2017-2018 AAA Southern Team
• 2017 Congrats to NRL Cambridge Jackie Gaudet, Sheri Adams, Jessie Callander, Taylor Campbell, Sydney Granger and Paige Nosal for being invited to the Senior Team Canada Selection Camp.
• 2017 Congrats to Ashley Heimbecker (Richmond Hill NRL -long time CRA player), Sydney Nosal (NRL Turbos) and Clara Palmer (AP NRL Turbos) for being invited to the Junior Team Canada Selection Camp.
• 2017 Congrats to NRL Cambridge Jackie Gaudet, Sheri Adams, Taylor Campbell, Sydney Granger and Paige Nosal for succeeding to the next phase of the Senior Team Canada Selection Camp.
• 2017 Congrats to Ashley Heimbecker and Sydney Nosal for being selected for Junior Team Canada and winning Gold at the World Ringette Championships held in Mississauga
• 2017 Congrats to Southern AAA winning Gold at the London AAA Challenge Cup, Gold at York AAA Challenge Cup, winning Silver at the Newmarket AAA Challenge Cup.
• 2018 Congrats to Junior Team Canada consisting of Ashley Heimbecker and Sydney Nosal - inducted into the Ringette Hall of Fame.
• 2019 Congrats to Glen Gaudet - inducted into the Waterloo Region Hall of Fame
• 2019 Congrats to the following Cambridge Turbos players that are named to the 2019/20 Southern Region AAA Team: Emma Croswell,  Emily Purbrick , Katharine Shaughnessy and  Madison Sunseth. Also congrats to Jessica Walden - Assist Coach - Southern Region AAA Team. 
• 2019 U19B - 4 Golds (Tournaments: Cambridge, Gatineau, St Catherines & Kitchener)
• 2019 U16 Regional - 1 Gold (Mississauga Tournament) and 2 Silvers (Cambridge & Paris Tournaments)
• 2019 U14 Orange Regional - 1 Gold (St Mary's Tournament) and 1 Silver (Cambridge Tournament)
• 2019 U10 Regional - 1 Silver (Cambridge Tournament)
• 2019/2020 Season ended due to COVID 19 which has affected the 2020-2021 season as well
• 2021 Congrats to Cambridge Turbos 2015-2017 Team - inducted into the Cambridge Sports Hall of Fame
